Nigerian legend singer, Majek Fashek is dead

Nigerian singer-songwriter and guitarist, Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly known as Majek Fashek is dead. 

It was revealed that he died in New York in the late hours of Monday June 1 after battling with cancer for almost a year.

Majek was separated from his family for 10 years, until last year September when they were reunited on the advice of his doctors that he should be close to his family, which influenced his being moved to New York where his wife and three sons live.

“We moved him from London to New York last September on the advice of the doctors that he should stay close to the family. Majek reunited with his family last year after 10 years of separation. He died in their company, ” Majek Fashek’s manager, Omenka Uzoma said.

Majek, who was born on March 7, 1963, was 57 years old when he died.

Cynthia Morgan’s former manager, Joy Tongo who confirmed Majek Fashek’s death wrote on Instagram:

Majek Fashek’s manager, Omenka Uzoma also confirmed his death. He however called for celebration of the legend’s achievements in a short video.
